The 2022 ITS World Congress will be hosted by Suzhou in the southeastern Jiangsu Province of East China. Suzhou won the right to host the 29th staging of the Congress, after beating Seoul and Taipei in the final round and went through the whole process of bidding, field research and query to stand out in the end.
The ITS World Congress started in 1994 as an international convention joining the three regions (America, Europe and Asia-Pacific). The ITS Congresses represent the ultimate showcase of mobility services deployment and aim to promote advanced technology research and the application of intelligent transportation systems. Congresses highlight the importance of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), particularly in cities and regions where they are hosted and are important channels to raise awareness of smart mobility solutions among policy makers, experts and the public. The 2022 ITS World Congress in Suzhou will display China’s innovative progress in intelligent transportation and boost development for a series of industries including AI, ITS and big data in the area.
The 2018 edition is being held in Copenhagen, with Singapore (2019), Los Angeles (2020) and Hamburg (2021) to follow as Congress host cities.
