Neil Herron is the founder and CEO of Grid Smarter Cities – an eco-system of smart solutions connecting communities and people with transport, parking, goods, services. He is a serial entrepreneur developing new propositions and SME businesses in the smart city space. He is a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Smart Cities. Neil spent 20 years running delivery fleets and retail operations and has over 10 years’ experience in influencing and improving parking policy and operations. He was a contributor to the Transport Data Revolution report on Intelligent Mobility for the Transport Systems Catapult and has a number of published articles on the subject of smart cities and the transport revolution.
José F Papi
José is the Founder & CEO of S3Innovation, a firm specialised in developing Mobility 3.0 innovations. He is also Senior Partner at S3Transportation and Chairman of the Smart Transportation Alliance, a global collaborative platform for transport infrastructure innovation across all modes and the Smart City. In the last 22 years he has worked for the Directorate-General for Transport of the European Commission, for the CIDAUT Foundation (Spain) and for the European Road Federation (ERF), and served for four years as Director General of the Spanish Road Technology Platform. He has participated in 29 EU-funded R&D projects and has conducted extensive consulting activity in Eastern Europe and North Africa for both the European Commission and the World Bank.
André is the former Head of Unit at the European Commission. He spent 29 years at the Commission in a variety of increasingly senior positions, latterly Head of Unit DG INFSO (Information Society) and was also previously ITC programme manager for the Transport Research Programme. During his three decades in Brussels André was widely respected and despite retiring in 2010 he is still active and seeking new ways in which to leverage his knowledge and experience.
Esther de Waard
Esther de Waard has devoted the last 20 years of her career to creating, organising and managing events, exhibitions, conferences, trade missions and study trips in the ITS and Smart City sectors. Fluent in eight languages, Esther’s unique ability to flawlessly run everything from a project’s logistics to its communication and marketing output has taken her from working with ERTICO, the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Trafficmaster and Connekt/ITS Netherlands, and this year she was responsible for the creation and day-to-day management of Intertraffic Amsterdam’s Smart Mobility Hall.
Alistair is internationally recognised for his work in the traffic signals sectors. An author as well as a deliver practitioner Alistair has a wealth of experience in the application of traffic management internationally.
Alistair brings over 25 years in-depth experience; resulting in an extensive specialist knowledge of traffic systems, which is used to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions with innovative designs to improve capability, safety and efficiency. In addition, as a technology specialist, he has particular experience in preliminary equipment assessments, due diligence reports, field trials and integration into traffic systems. He has in-depth knowledge of specialist technologies and equipment, standards and statutory requirements, along with ancillary issues, such as passive safety and the implications these pose on the design and management of traffic system installations.
Karl is a multi-discipline designer and front-end developer with over 13 years agency and freelance experience. He has worked with many national and international businesses on everything from branding to apps, through websites, vehicle livery and signage. He also owns and manages a coworking studio in Southsea, Hampshire, UK, working with exciting and innovative start-ups and freelancers.
