German Designer receives “iF product design award 2014” for Traffic Monitoring System

Traffic Monitoring System “TraffiTower 2.0”, designed by Ralf Jakubowski for the Jenoptik´s Traffic Solutions division in Germany has received the “iF product design award 2014”.

On 28 February 2014 the “TraffiTower 2.0” will be honoured at the iF design awards night at the “BMW Welt Munich” for its outstanding product design.

The “iF” design prize has been awarded annually since 1953 and is among the largest and most important international design competitions.

The TraffiTower 2.0 contributes to the overall road safety and is also a challenging element of a modern public design. With its modular design and the use of laser scanners or radar, it allows the monitoring of several lanes in both directions.

The removable side sections protect the main structure and offer the opportunity for extensive individualisation. The appearance of the product can be adapted to municipal corporate design or to special aesthetic preferences of different cultures.

Ralf Jakubowski said “The improvement of road safety through the monitoring and control of road traffic will be one of the outstanding challenges of our future. The design of the “hardware” will have a major influence on the quality of our urban environment. “
